Travel, Room for sublet, Blogs, and more...

Hello Everyone

A lot of you already know that I am spending 5 weeks in Asia. In a little less than one week I will be on a plane heading to Taiwan. I am going to spend a couple weeks their with my friend Anita, and then head to Hong Kong, and probably take the train from there to Beijing. If any of you have contacts in any of those places, especially hong kong, i would love to be put in touch with them. I wanted to send out this email before I left to let people know about a few things...

I have yet to sublet my room. I am hoping to rent it out for all or part of late March till the end of April, The price for the room is negotiable, it is in a walk up apartment at Ossington and Dundas. The main requirement is that my two roommates meet you and feel comfortable having you live with them. If you know of someone who needs a room please get in touch with me.

As many of you know I am deeply immersed in investigative research, and working toward becoming an investigative journalist. Along the way I am working and volunteering as a researcher, and providing workshops to pass on all the great investigative skills I have been developing. I decided that I should start a blog that focuses on investigative research and reporting. You can check it out atwww.diggingbelowthesurface.blogspot.com. The first article is on my ideas around the role of citizen journalists in investigative reporting. I will soon be posting research tips , interesting stories and other stuff related to this subject.

When I was envisioning my research focused blog I was thinking about how it doesn't really capture everything I am interested in, so I decided to start a second blog that I will post on less frequently. It will looks at some of the other stuff and ideas that really interests me. Check it out herewww.somemeanderingideas.blogspot.com. One of my interests these days is what makes a good playground, so the first article on this blog is an article about an adventure playground that used to exist in Toronto.

If any of you want to see me before I leave on my trip, the best place to go would be to a screening of a documentary,Myths for Profit: Canada's Role in Industries of War and Peace. Two of my friends just finished making this amazing film and it will be screening on Sunday March 15th, at Hart House, at 3pm. I hope to see you there.

I already have a handful of plans for when I get back from Asia. I will keep doing research work, and trying to write some of my own investigative articles. I will be doing more work on the Missing Plaque Project. I will mostly be in Toronto but I plan to attend a few conferences. The one I highly recommend you think of attending is the Allied Media Conference in Detroit. I am also planning to attend theInvestigative Reporters and Editors Conference in Baltimore, the Anarchist Bookfair in Montreal. And, in August I will be doing a residency at the Anchor Archives in Halifax. So hopefully I will cross paths with a lot of you in one or the other of those place.

Thats pretty much everything. If you send me your address I will try to send you a post card.
